The Telangana State Judicial Academy emerged in the year 2019, though it traces its origin to 1991 in the composite State of Andhra Pradesh, when the High Court conceived an idea of establishing a nodal training institute with a view to impart quality training to the Judicial Officers and the Academy was formally inaugurated on 28.07.1991.
Hon’ble The Chief Justice for the State of Telangana is the Patron-in-Chief of the Academy and Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of Telangana are patrons of the Academy. The Members of Board of Governors, the President of the Academy and the Patron-in-Chief would be guiding the Academy in its functioning.
The Mission and Vision of the Telangana State Judicial Academy is to impart quality training to the Judicial Officers by focusing on practical aspects and to continuously equip the Judicial Officers of the State on the recent trends and development in the legal field.
The motto of the Academy is Dharmo Rakshathi Rakshithaha.
The emblem of the Academy signifies the three lions of the National emblem, the State historical monuments i.e., Charminar, Kakatiya Kala Thoranam and “Satyameva Jayate”. In addition, the rays signify academic brilliance leading to professional excellence to dispense justice. The emblem also reflects the motto,with all these factors being shown as emanating from the Judicial Academy.
Director, Additional Director, Senior Faculty Member-I, Senior Faculty Member-II, Deputy Director and Assistant Director are the in-house faculty, while the guest faculty includes the present and former Judges of the Supreme Court and the High Court, serving and retired Senior District & Sessions Judges, Advocates, Administrators, Professors, Police Officers, Faculty of other Educational Training Institutions and other persons of eminence.
The Telangana State Judicial Academy has excellent co-ordination with and co-operation from all the reputed training institution in the twin cities like the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy, the Administrative Staff College of India, Dr.MCR Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana, the State Forensic Science Laboratory, the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, the Government Examiner of Questioned Documents, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, the Institute of Preventive Medicine, the Deccan, Osmania and Gandhi Medical Colleges, Osmania University and the Senior Administrators of various Government Departments. Experienced personnel from these Institutions are acting as resource persons on various subjects of their specialization in the training programmes of the Academy. The said list of institutions is illustrative but not exhaustive.
The Academy has also established contact with the other Judicial training institutes in the country like those in Utter Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra and Karnataka and the Academy proposes to have further rapport with all the reputed training and academic institutions in the country and abroad.
